Docked at Bilbao on time, disembarkation was just as efficient as boarding, customs and immigration cleared quickly.
This the first of our proper long days in the saddle. Quite cool in Bilbao, but temperature gradually rising as we head down south. Hit the toll roads as 340 miles to cover, stopping roughly every 100 miles as the mercury rose.
Posada di Grimaldo was delightful, plenty of secure parking, just off the main road. The house is approved accommodation for the Camino di Santiago. We had 3 spotless rooms, kitchen, fridge full of oranges from the garden and the basics to make breakfast.
There’s one bar and one restaurant in the village. Restaurant was closed and didn’t look like it was opening in a hurry. Bar was also closed, but rumour had it that it would open later, so we decided to hang around. Eventually opened, so we had a few beers, extensive food menu – we had a choice of burger or sandwich. We all had burger which turned out to be very good indeed.
