Picked up our hire car in the northern suburbs.
Day 1 – Auckland to Whangarai via Waipu
Great views all the way once we’d cleared Auckland’s suburbs.
Excellent lunch with a very pink drink and fantastic views.

Hotel reception, rural style. We stayed there 3 nights and never saw a member of staff.

Day 2 – Whangarei to Cape Reigna via Kerikeri
Elevenses at Kerikeri.
They were so yummy, we think we might pop back there tomorrow for their Saturday market.

Made it to the top of the country.
It was a beautiful place
Just as we were leaving we were treated to whales swimming out to sea.
Unfortunately didn’t get any pictures.
The drive back was also spectacular.
One of the strangest things we saw was this train going down the middle of the street in Kawakawa.
Day 3 – Tutukaka Coast
Bay after bay after bay. Not sure that phone cameras do it justice.
